Abstract [en] : The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine whether there were differences in occupational performance and quality of life for relatives of people with dementia, and if any difference existed between the sexes. Data were collected from two surveys, the Occupational Gaps Questionnaire (OGQ) about the experience of activity gaps in daily activities and Alzheimer's Carer's Quality of Life Instrument (ACQLI) on the perception of quality of life. The survey responses were compiled using SPSS and presented with descriptive statistics. The resuits showed that relatives experienced activity gaps in the four activity areas. Most gaps were experienced in the field of leisure activity. Common to the four activity areas was that the gaps were “did not perform the activity but wished to. General the number of gaps was higher for women than men. The participants experience was that, as a relative to a person with dementia, they constantly had to adapt to different situations which implies a lesser quality of life.
