Typically, interconnected dynamical systems relyon communication in order to coordinate and compute appropriatecontrol actions. Loss of communication links canexclude key decision makers from providing input and caneven alter the system properties. This paper investigates theimpact of communication loss on the controllability of a specificnetworked system, a homogeneous power-grid populated byproducer-consumer hybrids. The notion of muteness is introducedin order to characterize the control policy adopted bythe nodes which are isolated due to communication loss. Weprovide results which relates the controllability of such a systemwith mute nodes to the topology of the underlying electricalnetwork and show that under certain topological conditions,controllability is preserved.
