The necessity of highercurrent and providing a back-up when one unit fails, demands the paralleloperation of dc-dc converters. One of the problems of the parallel operatingpower converters is to regulate the output voltage and equalize the outputcurrents of modules. This paper provides the design of PV based sliding modecontroller SMC for parallel operated DC-DC boost converter. The outputvoltage regulation and load sharing behaviors are studied for the designed SMC fordisturbances viz. line voltage variations of converters, load variation andother circuit components changes. The performance evaluation is done inhardware and MATLAB-Simulink tool, finally the results are compared withconventional proportional-integral PI controller.
