Abstract

The purpose of this study is to construct fifty lessonsgraded in difficulty to improve the classification skill offourth grade children. The subject content is taken fromsocial studies. It is recognized that this particular skill is importantin teaching in the middle grades. Previous studies have shown that the Skill can be taughteffectively and that such practice has resulted in not onlythe increased ability to classify, but in actually readingachievement. Reading skills can be taught through the contentareas. Therefore this study is an attempt to develop teachingmaterials for children in grade four using social study content. TRUNCATEDRights
