The applications of robotics are becoming more and morecommon in non-traditional industries such as the medicalindustry including robotic surgery and sample microtoming aswell as food industry that include the processing of meats, fruitsand vegetables. In this paper, the influence of the blade edgeshapeand its slicing angle on the cutting of biomaterials areformulated and discussed based on the stress analysis that hasbeen presented in Part I. Through modeling the cutting force, anoptimal slicing angle can be formulated to maximize the feedrate while minimizing the cutting forces. Moreover, the methodoffers a means to predict cutting forces between the blade andthe biomaterials, and a basis for design of robust force controlalgorithms for automating the cutting of biomaterials.
