Different metals were tested to determine if microwave irradiation can heat liquidmetals. Temperature profiles of different molten metals under microwave radiationrevealed that molten metals are primarily microwave reflectors. To explain thisphenomenon, microwave heating mechanisms and skin depths of conductors have beenintroduced. The influences of resistivities on metal skin depths are also discussed.
