By using M-200 wear testing machine and the SiCp-Al block vs. GCr15 steel ring tribo-pairs, the effect of the volume fraction and size of SiC particle, applied load and sliding speed on the friction and wear behavior of the SiCp-Al composites fabricated by pressureless infiltration was investigated under boundary lubrication condition. The results showed that the friction coefficient and wear rate of SiCp-Al composites were significantly affected by applied load and volume fraction of SiC particle, the wear rate of composites increased and the friction coefficient decreased with increasing applied load, the friction coefficient of SiCp-Al composites reached the upper limit of variation when volume fraction of SiC particle was 45%. The SiCp-Al composite has a minimum wear rate when volume fraction of SiC particle was about 45%, as well as maximum wear rate when volume fraction of SiC particle was about 25%. Decreasing size of SiC particle and sliding speed would result in increased wear resistance. The above mentioned the friction and wear behavior of the SiCp-Al composites were significantly affected by the boundary film between tribo-pairs.
