TiO2 film co-doped by rare earth ions with Er3+-Ce3+coated on magnesium slag porous ceramic filtering ball was prepared, taking dibutyl phthalate as the precursor. The samples’ composition and microstructure were characterized by modern test technology, such as TG-DTA, XRD, SEM and the photo-catalytic activity under ultra-violet light was evaluated by the degradation efficiency of methyl blue. The results showed that the photo-catalytic activity of TiO2 film co-doped by rare earth ions with Er3+ and Ce3+ coated on magnesium slag porous ceramic filtering ball was good after heating at 550℃ for 2h, and the degradation rate of methyl blue could be improved nearly 40% compared to the uncoated magnesium slag porous ceramic filtering ball. Furthermore, the film and ceramic matrix had a good bonding with each other.
