Using the high selectivity of the polymer film and the catalytic properties of carbon nanotubes, Poly-MG-MWCNTs-GCE was prepared by polymerizing of malachite green on the surface of multi-walled carbon nanotubes-glassy carbon electrode MWCNTs-GCE. The electrochemical behavior of p-nitrophenol on Poly-MG-MWCNTs-GCE was studied, and a method of detecting p-nitrophenol was developed. The peak current of p-nitrophenol was proportional to its concentration on the range 5.0×10-6 to 1.0×10-3 mol-L. The detection limit was 5.0×10-7 mol-L. According to the electrochemical response, Poly-MG-MWCNTs-GCE can be used as electrochemical sensor for detection and quantitative analysis of p-nitrophenol and the sample in the environment.
