Eight levels of P application estimated from the Langmuir equations that gave a range of P concentrations in the soil solution were evaluated.
The rates were 0, 45, 90, 135, 180, 225, 270, and 315 mg P kg-1 for Flagstaff soil and 0, 10, 20, 30 40, 50, 60, and 70 mg P kg-1 for Qunu soil and these resulted in equilibrium soil solution concentrations of between 0 to 0.35 mg P l-1 for both soils.
Harvesting was done 10 weeks after planting.
