Abstract: Instantons at finite temperature consist of dyons, with their massesdepending on the asymptotic Polyakov loop. It is shown that the suppression ofheavy dyons can explain qualitatively the behavior of the periodic andantiperiodic chiral condensate and the topological susceptibility above thephase transition.
