Abstract: We study the equation of state in two-flavor QCD at finite temperature anddensity. Simulations are made with the RG-improved gluon action and theclover-improved Wilson quark action. Along the lines of constant physics for$m { m PS}-m { m V} = 0.65$ and 0.80, we compute the derivatives of the quarkdeterminant with respect to the quark chemical potential $\mu q$ up to thefourth order at $\mu q=0$. We adopt several improvement techniques in theevaluation. We study thermodynamic quantities and quark number susceptibilitiesat finite $\mu q$ using these derivatives. We find enhancement of the quarknumber susceptibility at finite $\mu q$, in accordance with previousobservations using staggered-type quarks. This suggests the existence of anearby critical point.
