Abstract : When trying to understand the political displacement, the emergence of new transnational powers and of new transnational forms of resistance, the analysis in terms of institutions and players may seem insufficiently relevant. The reorganization of traditional powers and the increasing power of the transnational on a planetary scale is only the top of the iceberg. We can observe that is a set of systems is actually evolving that undermine the perception of sovereignty that has long been the foundation of western governmental practices. What has to be clarified is the very meaning we give today to politics, and our perception of the political dimension, which is in the process of radically changing. In Analyzing global politics, I suggest that the main issue on the agenda is that of a politics of survival – and this is being expressed in most varied ways in the public space, as in the NGO-s mobilisations and in the transnational forums.
