This report provides information about the cost of attending Pennsylvania colleges and universities, including tuition, required fees, and room and board charges for the year 1995-96 as well as trend information for the past 10 years. The main source of the data was an annual survey of 145 Pennsylvania colleges and universities. Comparative national data are also provided. Tables and figures present the following data: (1) average annual increase in undergraduate in-state basic student charges vs. the consumer price index, 1986-87 through 1995-96; (2) average undergraduate in-state tuition and required fees by institutional category, 1986-87 through 1995-96; (3) average annual increase in undergraduate in-state tuition and required fees, 1986-87 through 1995-96; (4) average combined room and board charges by institutional category, 1986-87 through 1995-96; (5) average annual increase in room and board charges, 1986-87 through 1995-96; (6) average basic student charges by institutional category, 1995-96; and (7) average undergraduate basic student charges in 4-year institutions, United States, Pennsylvania, and selected neighboring states, 1994-95. Appendixes provide additional data, a glossary, and notes on sources. (MDM)
