National Writing Project (NJ1)

The Presenters' Collaborative Network (PCN) was started in 2002 to support the creation of a corps of teacher-consultants who would lead workshops for the Rhode Island Writing Project (RIWP) at local schools and conferences. The PCN is a group of teachers, past participants from summer institutes or year-round embedded programs in schools that meets four times annually to share and to critique classroom demonstration presentations in order to learn more about individual practice and to prepare for inservice possibilities. A fifth meeting is the Annual Rhode Island Writing Project Conference, where many PCN members offer workshops as part of the program. This report describes the history and functioning of the PCN, and it roles in the growth and development of RIWP. Nine appendices are included: (1) Distribution of PCN Participants by Grade Level, Tenure (Number of Years in Teaching), and teaching Location; (2) RIWP Executive Board roster; (3) Application; (4) Agendas; (5) Prompts for Journaling: (6) Tuning Protocol for Presentations: (7) Tuning Protocol Response Notes; (8) Presentation Guide; and (9) Cover Sheet for Presenters. (Contains 2 footnotes.)
