Summary: Lucania parva from the Florida Keys, eastern Gulf of Mexico, and the east coast of Florida were examined for morphometric andmeristic variation. Field work indicated that the east coast populationis allopatric. The three major populations are shown to have differentiatedas a result of different selection pressures and absence orrestriction of gene flow. The Florida Keys form is viewed as a clinal extreme of the Gulf form. It was found that the populations of L. parva in Florida probably merit division into two subspecificpopulations: east coast and Gulf coast-Florida Keys.
