Summary: The purpose of this study is to determine if professional life insuranceagents are homogeneous in their perceived values for joining and remainingaffiliated with their professional association. Comparisons have beenmade of the values given twenty reasons normally considered important ininfluencing individuals to join or remain in an association. Comparisonsare made of the obtained values from different groups: ordinary agentscompared to combination agents, urban agents compared to rural agents, theeffect of serving on the board of directors of a local or state associationas compared to not serving. A comparison of the effect that an agent'sage, number of years that he is a member of the association, and the numberof years that he is in the insurance business has on his perceivedvalue for joining or remaining in the association. These comparisons weremade at the state and local association level.
