Abstract/Description: Microarray gene expression profiling is used in biology for a variety of purposesincluding identifying disease biomarkers or understanding cellular processes. Biologicalsamples composed of multiple cell or tissue types pose a problem because differentcompositions of cell-types in samples affect the gene expression profile and also theexpression profile of individual components of the sample may be of interest. Physicalmethods to separate mixed samples are time-consuming and expensive. Consequently,several computational methods have been developed to deconvolute heterogeneoussamples into individual components. Different software packages and applications areavailable to perform these calculations. Microarray Deconvolution is a web applicationthat provides a simple-to-use interface that fills some gaps left by other packages inperforming heterogeneous sample microarray deconvolution including microarray rawdata processing and normalization, cell-type proportion estimation and simple lineardeconvolution.
