Abstract: We investigate the critical behavior of three-dimensional relativisticfermion models with a UN L L x U1 R chiral symmetry reminiscent of theHiggs-Yukawa sector of the standard model of particle physics. We classify allpossible four-fermion interaction terms and the corresponding discretesymmetries. For sufficiently strong correlations in a scalar parity-conservingchannel, the system can undergo a second-order phase transition to achiral-symmetry broken phase which is a 3d analog of the electroweak phasetransition. We determine the critical behavior of this phase transition interms of the critical exponent $ u$ and the fermion and scalar anomalousdimensions for N L >= 1. Our models define new universality classes that canserve as prototypes for studies of strongly correlated chiral fermions.
